About Me

I firmly embrace the idea that healing needs to be approached by treating a person as a whole being- body, mind, and spirit.... I work in a peaceful, plant filled, dedicated treatment room in Brewster.

I began my study of healing in the Certificate program at Cape Cod Community College in 2007. I received a complete education in massage therapy there from a spectrum of dedicated teachers who were themselves gifted healers.  I learned there is no truly "right" way to do massage, that it is a combination of knowledge, intution, and close attention to each client's needs. I had training at CCCC in variations of swedish massage, shiatsu, and reflexology, and was exposed to many other healing modalities. I continued my education after graduation with clases in Reiki, cupping, Tom Meyers Anatomy Trains, and John Barnes MFR (Myofascial Release).

My natural tendency to work slowly with the body at restriced areas, waiting for the tissue to accept my touch and soften, led me to study Myofascial Release.  I have taken several classes with John Barnes in Sedona, AZ.  I truly feel that his principles of myofascial release offer the greatest opportunity for healing on all levels of any modality I have explored. I continue to study under JFB and see exceptional healing results with my clients.

MFR differs from "traditional" massage in that my intent is to apply gentle sustained pressure to areas of tightness and wait for the tissue to release. There is no risk of injury, as the body is never forced. In time, (2-5 minutes or more) the fascia releases its weblike grip on the tissue, restoring fluidity and range of motion, decreasing or erasing pain, and bringing increased circulation and new awareness to the body. MFR treatment also includes guidance in self care practices you can use to foster and increase healing between treatments.
